Santa Fe Plaza
Be sure to save time for a stop at the Santa Fe Plaza during your group visit, the plaza considered to be the heart of Santa Fe for nearly 400 years! This spot is the main central gathering place for the city, an official National Historic Landmark located in downtown Santa Fe.
The entire plaza is set in the style of traditional Spanish American colonial cities, holding benches, a bandstand, and Spanish and Native American markets. The area is surrounded by more city landmarks, shops, and restaurants as well. During your visit, your group can simply come to stroll the park, enjoy a picnic lunch, shop traditional Native American items, and/or attend a musical performance at the bandstand. There is always something going on here, be it a festival, parade, or market, a highly popular annual event example being the September Santa Fe Fiesta.
Be sure to go take a look at the obelisk-shaped statue at the center of the plaza before you go, this monument dedicated to American Indian War.
