La Jolla Cove Snorkeling
Welcome to La Jolla! You may be entertained by the local sea lions, but the real treat lies beneath the surface where the ocean floor is covered with bright orange Garibaldi - the California state fish! There are sea cliffs that protect the cove from high surf making it safe for snorkelers to explore to their heart's content!
Even if you have never experienced snorkeling before, La Jolla Cove offers an exciting opportunity for groups to partake in: The Leopard Shark Encounter Lesson, which lasts just under an hour! First, you will be fitted with a wetsuit, fins, mask, and a snorkel. The expert guide will teach your group the basics on dry land and then you’ll swim with the magnificent leopard sharks in the sandy flats of the La Jolla Cove shores. As part of the eye-popping experience, you may see the shovelnose guitarfish and stingrays cruising about! At the end of the tour, team members may keep the fins and wetsuit to play in the ocean for the rest of the day!
There are public restrooms located at the top of the cliff for your convenience. Showers are available for rinsing off the sand and salt after a day in the ocean. Some restrictions to keep in mind while visiting La Jolla Cove are as follows: fishing and removing objects from the cove is strictly prohibited. Parking at La Jolla Cove can be difficult so arrive early to reserve a spot on the street and enjoy your day in the sun, sand, and surf!
