Outer Banks Beach Time
There are over 100 miles of shoreline in Dare County, all connected by the legendary coastal 2-lane highway, NC 12. You will find sand dunes, wild horses, and pristine coastline all along the Outer Banks, which is a true beach lovers paradise.
With so many beach options, however, it may be hard to decide where to go to enjoy some quality beach time, so here is a little bit about the top beaches in the area.
1. Kitty Hawk
This beach holds some of the largest waves in all of the Northern Beaches, giving excellent surfing and skimboarding opportunities to guests. There is also a nearby maritime forest with walking trails, Kitty Hawk Woods.
2. Duck
Duck Beach is certainly known as the most pet-friendly beach in the area, allowing your doggos to roam leash-free through the sand and waters with you.
3. Southern Shores
Southern Shores Beach boasts gorgeous Atlantic Ocean views, nearby shopping centers and markets, and pristine sand and sun-soaking opportunities.
4. Kill Devil Hills
This beach is known for its waves and watersports, as well as easy public beach accesses and public bathhouses.
5. Nags Head
Nags Head is a lively beach spot that sits next to Jennette's Pier and gives access to remarkable natural beauty.
6. Corolla
This sandy spot borders the Atlantic and Currituck Sound, giving both ocean waves and calm kayaking waters, as well as hikeable maritime forest in between. You will likely catch a glimpse of the Wild Colonial Spanish Mustangs while here too!
