Kansas City Gangster Tour
If you are interested in learning about the mobsters in the Kansas City area, you will enjoy the KC Gangster Tour. Visitors are put hot on the trail of the city’s most notorious Goodfellas. The entire tour is 90 minutes in length and the bus will depart from Union Station.
In the course of the experience, guests will be immersed in a melodramatic look at mob homes and hangouts, turf wars and heinous crimes such as the Union Station Massacre. The Kansas City Massacre took place in 1933. You can still see bullet holes that were made during the infamous crime. On the bus, you will listen to stories from the perspective of the famous person known as Johnny Holiday. The stories will be about Boss Tom Pendergast. The storyteller will also point out things such as where speakeasies and gambling halls once operated, where mobsters once lived and worked, and where major turf wars and crimes occurred. There will be video clips for you to enjoy on the tour.
Guests will learn about Kansas City Gangsters which include both Irish and Italian mobsters. Johnny will also talk about interesting facts about the places and events that occurred in the area. He is known for his great sense of humor. The bus will stop at an apartment building which is part of the Armor District of KC. At this location, the guide will graphically re-enact a gangland killing that occurred on the sidewalk in front of the building. Ward Parkway was the home of Tom Pendergast. He is considered to be the most well-known gangster in the city. He was an Irish immigrant and ran KC for many years. You will have the opportunity to take photos during the bus ride. The tour happens every Saturday.
