Welcome to Hillsboro Inlet Park, the beachside green space that holds the historic Hillsboro Lighthouse.
A visit to the park requires a short boat ride along the Intracoastal Waterway in which you will see fantastic local scenery and historic hotspots for the area, like the popular 100-year-old wooden cottages. Once at the lighthouse you will start learning tons of local history facts, like the fact that the lighthouse itself was first established in 1907, making it one of the oldest structures in all of Broward County. Learn all about the Barefoot Mailmen and their daily 40-mile journey along the beaches to deliver mail as you climb the 175 steps to the top (NO FLIP FLOPS). Once to the top, you will learn about the clam-shell Fresnel lens used, the most powerful light of any remaining lighthouse in the United States. This light is visible for 28 miles at sea!
The views from the top are impeccable, giving you postcard-perfect views of both Pompano and Hillsboro Beach.
