Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum

Portraying the history of the Pikes Peak mountain region, the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum is a completely free and wholly fascinating attraction. The building itself, a restored 1903 El Paso County Courthouse, is a beautiful landmark memorializing the people who built and developed the area.

The people who settled in the shadow of Pikes Peak could be considered unusual, as the Pioneers Museum may say. From explorers to hopeful gold rushers, the community which became Colorado Springs and nearby towns were diverse and full of character. Explore history with exhibits like The Midas Touch showcasing the unbelievable lives of two men who discovered gold and became instant millionaires. The City of Sunshine exhibit highlight's the Pikes Peak history of being a destination for health and healing of tuberculosis and other ailments since the late 19th century. Learn about the sanatorium turned university, the devastating Waldo Canyon fire, highlights from American Indian history and cultural artifacts, and so much more!

The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is located downtown on Tejon Street and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
