Universal’s Harry Potter Experience: 10 Best Foods

Being a wizard never tasted so good!

Muggles have been missing out on all the most magical treats at Univeral Studios, all the good stuff tucked away deep in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Eateries such as The Three Broomsticks, Leaky Cauldron, Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour, and Honeydukes provide remakes of candies, drinks, and foods found in the novels and films, plus some originals you won't want to miss.

So grab your wand, your sense of adventure, and your appetite and let's make our way through the top 10 Best Foods at Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Here is a quick reminder on where you will find each Harry Potter section:
  • Diagon Alley - Orlando
Hogsmeade - Universal's Islands of Adventure - Orlando
    Hogsmeade - Hollywood

  1. Butterbeer - This classic Harry Potter drink was first introduced in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, when, on a stealthy trip to Hogsmeade, Hermoine suggests they all go inside The Three Broomsticks to warm up and have a drink. While it is slightly alcoholic in the novel (house elves get drunk off of it), it is not in real life, but it is every bit as tasty as described! Most describe it as a sort of butterscotch cream soda. You will find Butterbeer around every corner practically!

"Why don't we go and have a butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks, it's a bit cold, isn't it?"—Hermione Granger.

  2. Chocolate Frog - Try a chocolate frog and see what collectible card you get in your package, the only difference between this and what you see in the novels/films being that the card photos won't magically move for you, bummer, we know. This simple milk chocolate frog is one of the most 'Harry Potter-esque' foods to try while at Universal, and you can find them at Honeydukes Emporium in Hogsmeade (both Hollywood and Orlando)!

  3. Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans - Banana, Black Pepper, Blueberry, or Boogers...which will you get? Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans is the half delicious, half atrocious mix of jelly beans introduced to Harry on the train in the very beginning of it all, in the Sorcerer's Stone. Grab yourself a box at Honeydukes in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade and test your luck!

  5. Bangers and Mash - Another great, stick to your bones meal to try during your Wizarding World of Harry Potter visit is the Bangers and Mash, a British classic with an American twist. This dish consists of 2 sausages on top of mashed potatoes and peas, covered in onions and gravy. It is served with a tasty side of cabbage or mixed veggies, as well. This is another dish you will find at the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley.

  7. Butterbeer Soft Serve - So we already mentioned the classic must try drink, Butterbeer, but did we happen to mention that there are actually 6 different ways to enjoy Butterbeer? That's right, you can have Butterbeer cold, hot, frozen, as ice cream, as potted cream, and as fudge! Aside from the original, our favorite is the Butterbeer Soft Serve, found at Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour in Diagon Alley.

Cottage Pie - Cottage Pie, or Shepherd's Pie, is a hearty classic meal consisting of meat and vegetables in a potato crust, a great filling meal to grab at either the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley or the Three Broomsticks in Hollywood. 10. Exploding Bonbons - These tasty little treats are packed with a punch, an explosion worthy of banishment in Hogwarts during Harry's school years. In the novel, these were made with cocoa and coconut, but at Universal, they are orange and pineapple flavored truffles coated in white chocolate. The 'explosion' comes from pop rocks in the center! Find these treats at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugarplum's in Diagon Alley.
