The National Museum of World War II Aviation
Welcome to The National Museum of World War II Aviation, the museum with a large collection of restored aircraft and artifacts from WWII. This museum serves as home base for a large selection of aircraft, most of them fully restored to flying conditions. In fact, there are over 20 planes fully restored to flying condition at the museum base!
Your group can opt to take a docent-led history tour or self-guided tour while here, with options to explore the museum and 40,000 square foot Kaja Raven Shook Aeronautical Pavilion. The museum is open to the public Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and hosts STEM programs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The onsite collection includes several different types of aircraft, such as the following:
Prelude to WWII Aircraft:
Waco JYM - Flying
Liason Aircraft:
Cessna L-19 Bird Dog - Flying
Overall, this museum does a great job of telling the 'full story behind American advancements in aviation technology during the war', something we really think your group will enjoy during your Colorado Springs visit!
