St. Louis Art Museum
Located in beautiful Forest Park at the top of iconic Art Hill, the St. Louis Art Museum is one of the nation’s premier art collections. The museum holds collections ranging from all eras and areas of the world from ancient Chinese ceramics to Neolithic and tribal ceremonial artifacts, Renaissance masters, and Greco-Roman sculptures.
With everything from ancient times to contemporary art, the St. Louis Art Museum is home to some of the most impressive, beautiful, and important pieces of art in the world. See European masters like Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Rodin, Van Gogh, Titian, and Hans Holbein among others. The museum also has an impressive American art collection including Thomas Cole, George Caleb Bingham, and other artists of the Hudson River School movement. The Sculpture Garden, located outside of the museum, is the beautiful garnish to an otherwise gorgeous collection. Outside you can find nature complementing works by Rodin and Renoir, Jacques Lipchitz, Henry Moore, and more.
Temporary exhibitions feature topics on oil painting masters, modern photography, ancient textiles, and cultural practices of artistic expression across the globe.
Located in the center courtyard of the museum is a beautiful dining area and restaurant that is perfect for a lunch break in your day of touring. Stop for an hour and eat in the marble courtyard, surrounded by works of art, and then resume your touring to see everything the museum has to offer.
