Mint Museum of Art
While your group is in Charlotte, you should stop by and check out the Mint Museum as part of the experience. The museum is an internationally-renowned institution. It is dedicated to collecting, conserving, exhibiting, inspiring, publishing and protecting important works of art and design from all over the global art community. There are two museums that are located within the building. One of the locations is known as Mint Museum Uptown and the other is the Mint Museum Randolph. Visitors will have the opportunity to examine a variety of collections and exhibitions at both locations.
At the Mint Museum, group members will have the opportunity to check out several forms of art in a number of fascinating collections and exhibitions. One of the collections is the American Art Collection. It contains paintings, unique works on paper, prints, sculpture, and photographs that were created from the Colonial Era through the Second World War. Another collection is the Craft Design Collection. The collection celebrates exceptional moments of artistic and design excellence in several areas which include glass, fiber art, metal, studio jewelry, design, studio furniture, wood art, and clay.
The museum also contains a collection which is known as the Modern and Contemporary Art Collection. Contemporary Art consists of art that reflects diverse societal values, identities, and pertinent issues. There are also collections in genres such as Art of the Ancient Americas, Native American Art, Decorative Arts, and Fashion. There are also special collections for you to check out at the museum.
