Coqui Coqui Coba
You may have already seen a few Coqui Coqui’s around the area, with a total of three currently operating attractions by such name around the state of Quintana Roo. While there used to be one here in Tulum, today the closest you will find is in Coba, just about 45 minutes away. Coqui Coqui is a hotel, perfumery, and most importantly today, a highly popular local spa. This spa takes advantage of local floral scents to create perfumes and diffusible scent experiences, giving you both a highly sensory experience and a highly native experience. Each of the three different locations (Valladolid, Merida, and Coba) work to ‘enhance harmony between the mind and soul’, though they do this in different ways in each location. For example, here in Coba, you will smell the aromas of lime and menli, the local fragrances ‘reflecting the lush gardens of Coba’, though in Merida you will be greeted by the rich aroma of Tobacco.
Each of the spas combines perfectly practiced techniques in massage therapy with their own intuitive touch, helping ‘renew and inspire’ you as a guest, the holistic approach to physical and mental well-being taking advantage of natural ingredient filled oils, lotions, and herbal blends. There is a sort of ‘legend has it’ story about the scents and aromas created here, the story being told that New World Colonization brought about Franciscan Monks in this area who were some of the first to create such aromas and scents for medicinal and religious purposes. Malleville, the founder of Coqui Coqui (2003) took that idea and mixed it with ancient Mayan Medicine to create what you see today, the ‘ultimate sensory experience’ in the Yucatan Peninsula.
After you go on your relaxing and practically spiritual botanical adventure in the spa you can partake in a gastronomic adventure at the onsite eatery, the restaurant taking advantage of local and sustainable agriculture. There are actually orchards here in Coba planted just for this purpose! Enjoy several different textures, colors, and aromas during your meal!
