Mardi Gras World
If your group travel experience needs a little more color in your vacation, then head to Mardi Gras World, one of the most family-friendly, educational, and entertaining places to stop at while in New Orleans.
Did you know that each year over 500 newer, bigger, and more extravagant floats are made here in New Orleans for the highly popular local festival day parade (we think you know the one we’re talking about)? That’s right, there is actually a year-round team of diligently working artists who sometimes call the ‘float den’ their home, working constantly to ensure this year's parade will be just as magnificent as the rest with some of the biggest and most spectacular floats.
When visiting Mardi Gras World you will have an insider's look at the working warehouse in which the floats are made, this facility giving tours every half hour, each tour lasting about an hour, all year long. Learn about the history of the festival, of New Orleans, and of float making in general while here! Your group will be able to see films, taste King Cake, take a look at common parade costumes and even go through a mask-making workshop. There are special educational features that meet the standards of STEM here as well, like the 3D printing robot!
There is an option after the tour for a mini float building exercise, as well! If you are here with a corporate group, church, or large family you may also opt-in to do a teambuilding exercise, the facility accepting groups of all sizes (limit 200-250 for mini-float building).
So if you are looking for an authentic Mardi Gras experience, with just a little less partying and a little more education, head to Mardi Gras World, one of the absolute best student and family attractions in the entire city!
