KC Zoo
Do you love to see fascinating animals? If so, the Kansas City Zoo is the perfect place to visit. It was established in 1908. In 1948 the children’s zoo which was known as Touchtown was added to the facility. The zoo has been recognized as being one of the top 60 zoos in the United States. You won’t want to miss a chance to see the wildlife and tropical plants at this popular destination.
At the Kansas City Zoo, visitors will see animals from around the world. There are animals from places such as Africa, Asia, and Australia. The most popular exhibit at the zoo is known as Africa. Guests can check out plains animals such as zebras, giraffes, gazelles, lions, and hippos. You will see lions playing atop a grassy hillside, cheetahs running along a ridge, gorillas cooling themselves under shady trees, and hippos dipping and diving in a water pool.
Another exhibit area within the zoo is known as the Helzberg Penguin Plaza. The attraction is home to about a dozen Humboldt penguins and about 50 cold water penguins. You can join daily chats and feedings and observe these amazing animals.
The Kansas City Zoo offers guests the chance to spend the night with the animals. One of the programs is known as the Polar Bear PJ Party. In the course of the experience, you will spend the night with the zoo’s famous bears known as Nikita and Berlin. You will learn about the hardships they face as well as you and I if we were to take a trip to the Arctic. Another nighttime adventure is known as the Nocturnal Safari. The program allows visitors to camp with the animals in the African wild. Guests must bring their own tents and sleeping bags.
