Japanese Tea Garden

San Antonio's Japanese Tea Garden, aka the Sunken Garden, is absolutely one of the most peaceful and beautiful spots in all of San Antonio.
This garden is set in historic Brackenridge Park, within an area that used to be an abandoned limestone rock quarry in the early 20th century. There are over 90 years of history here between the quarry and the gardens.
This lush year-round garden and floral display hold several different walkways, stone arch bridges, koi ponds, and even a gorgeous 60-foot waterfall. There is a small island as well as a Japanese Pavilion here as well. Everything is highly photogenic, and there is even a platform in a thicket of bamboo aside from the waterfall commonly used for weddings and photography.
Your group can eat here onsite at the Jingu House Restaurant, a tea house, and a cafe that serves up authentic Bento Boxes, sushi, salads, and sandwiches. The Jingu family has been an essential part in the formation and upkeep of this garden since the very beginning.
