Galveston Naval Museum
Capture the experience as a predator patrolling underwater in the Pacific or as the protector of Allied forces in the North Atlantic. Gain a unique memory of being on the USS Cavalla, a World War II submarine that sank a Japanese aircraft carrier involved in the Pearl Harbor attacks, or the USS Stewart, the only Edsall-class destroyer escort preserved in the United States.... Galveston Naval Museum
Welcome to the Galveston Naval Museum, the military history museum located within Galveston's own Seawolf Park.
Inside this educational and historic museum, you will 'immerse yourself in our National Heritage' as you explore historic WWII vessels such as the USS Seawolf, USS Cavalla, USS Stewart, and SS Selma. The USS Stewart is one of the only 3 destroyer escorts left in the world, and the remains of another tanker onsite, the SS Selma, is the largest concrete ship constructed! Field trip groups will love the museum experience, which takes the students on a submarine tour, teaching them 'what sailors and submariners ate, where they slept, and how they worked together as a fighting force during WWII'.
Note: Be sure to check out the annual Memorial and Veteran Day remembrances if you are visiting during that time, as well as the patriotic holiday light displays during the winter months.
