Clearwater Marine Aquarium
Welcome to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, the rescue and rehab focused marine wildlife center located along the Bay.
Whereas most aquariums are dedicated solely to marine life education and conservation, CMA is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured marine animals. For this reason, they are considered 'not your typical aquarium'. Of course, public education, conservation, and research are also key components here.
Your group will see rescued dolphins, sea turtles, river otters, sting rays, nurse sharks, and more, the most famous resident being Winter, the star of the hit movie Dolphin Tale. Learn all about Winter and how she has adapted to life without a tail, then learn about her friend Hope, another Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin rescued after being found trying to nurse from her deceased mother. Aside from seeing Winter and Hope in The Winter Zone, you will also be able to explore exhibits such as Rufus Beach, Otter Oasis, Sea Cavern, Surgical Site, Atlantis Theater, Shark Pass, Shipwreck Alley, and so much more.
If your group would like, you can choose to add on a boat tour, like the Sea Life Safari tour, educational program, animal care experience, or simply sit in on any of the daily presentations that may be happening. Before you go head to the aquarium gift shop or Shark Bites Cafe. Need something a bit more hearty to eat? Head to Island Way Grill across the street!
