U.S. National Whitewater Center
The U.S. National Whitewater Center is a non-profit outdoor recreation and adventure sports facility dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, developing environmental stewardship and encouraging family and social interaction. Alongside mountain biking and running trails, a climbing center, mega zip line, and challenge course, the Center’s unique feature is a multiple-channel, customized whitewater river used for rafting and canoe/kayak enthusiasts of all abilities.
The USNWC is only 15 minutes from Uptown Charlotte and provides nearly 400 acres of woodlands along the scenic Catawba River. Families, workout enthusiasts, casual observers, and Olympic-caliber athletes share this world-class sports and training center for events, summer camps, business conferences, and active leisure enjoyment. The center is most well known as the training facility for Olympians competing in whitewater slalom racing, though curious visitors and athletes of all abilities are welcome to come by and sample the waves!
Even if you're not interested in whitewater rafting, there are plenty of recreational activities for your group to enjoy! Land sports like mountain biking, eco trekking, rock climbing, and even aerial sports like the Canopy Tour are available to enjoy. If your group would like to learn more about these various sports, trained experts are available for personal instruction. There are also activities and camp programs for groups of all ages.
