Blue Slip Winery
You're truly in luck, you have just been handed a blue slip. Not a pink slip for the day, but a blue slip for the entire weekend! That was the baseline concept behind this stop at Knoxville’s Blue Slip Winery, the city’s first winery, created in 2009, and Tennessee’s first ever "urban" winery. Blue Slip Winery was co-created by Jeff Galyon in hopes to provide the surrounding community and visitors to the state with a unique, urban, and historical Tennessee wine experience. Blue Slip is located in the 1903-built historic Southern Railway Station, deep within downtown Knoxville. Designed by Frank P. Milburn, this absolutely stunning special event venue can fit up to 130 people and plays hosts to several live performances, parties, banquets, and even weddings! Your group will love the meticulously restored floors and fireplaces, the entire structure containing a type of southern rustic chalkboard and wine cork charm, both stunningly historic and elegant.
While here your group can partake in a free wine tasting, available daily during operating hours. One of the greatest thing about Blue Slip is that all the wines sold here are made on-site from locally grown fruits. This winery brings the farmer to the city, allowing customers to really have a relationship with their Tennessee growers. The local grapes are handcrafted on-site, being processed, fermented, and bottled by the company itself. Try such unique and delicious local flavors as Little River Red, Old City Red, Big Blue Blueberry, and Dogwood White. There are several events here weekly, from holiday parties and date nights to food truck expos and business meetings. Before you go be sure to check out the dizzily tasteful tasting room, exciting live music stage, entertaining gift shop, and on-site informational Railway Museum.
