'Whether you prefer art that is contemporary, abstract, modern, expressionistic, figurative, photorealistic, digital, traditional, western or Native American, it’s all here.'
If you are at all an artsy type of person then you need to make Canyon Road a priority when visiting Santa Fe, a street dedicated to the country's finest art.
Canyon Road hosts over 100 galleries, boutiques, and restaurants within a 1/2 mile strip within the Santa Fe Historic District. The adobe-clad road is nestled in the beautiful foothills of Sangre de Cristo Mountains, making the perfect backdrop for a pleasant evening stroll. During this fine evening stroll, you will see galleries holding everything from traditional art to abstract contemporary art. The wide variety of galleries hold such things as paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, as well as fine art lithographs, serigraphs, woodcuts, and monotypes, and even sculptures in bronze, wood, stone, and glass (plus so much more). The galleries along the road all have established good reputations with fine art collectors, major art fairs, and US art museums, making this a prime art collector scoping spot!
Aside from admiring all the art, you can also enjoy jewelry stores, clothing boutiques, home furniture shops, and gourmet restaurants. Enjoy a nice sit-down dinner at Cafe des Artistes, Cafe Greco, El Farol, and more before you go!
