Allentown District
When your adult group travels to Niagara Falls, you should consider visiting the Allentown District. The location was named after Louis Allen who was a native of Westfield, Massachusetts. He arrived in Buffalo in 1827 and established an orchard and cattle farm on a 29-acre lot. At the beginning of the 20th century, Allentown was at the height of its fortunes. The Allentown Historic District was the first Buffalo neighborhood to be listed on the National Register.
If you love architecture, the Allentown District is the place to visit. The area is characterized by lovely red brick houses that were popular in the 19th century. There are exquisite buildings in the Allentown District such as the Allendale Theatre and the seven houses that make up the Tiffts Row. The buildings are both located on Allen Street. The former Buffalo Catholic Institute is another beautiful building in the area.
In the course of the visit, the team can check out the variety of art galleries. Allentown is considered to be the largest and most longstanding art community in Buffalo. The galleries have magnificent art in various genres. On the first Friday of the month, visitors can walk through the galleries and also enjoy live entertainment.
At the Allentown District, visitors can enjoy a live performance at the Allendale Theatre. The performances are done by the Theatre of Youth which presents works that are family-friendly. The company is the only one in the frontier of the Niagara that is dedicated to presenting these amazing performances. The district also hosts several special events and festivals each year. The group will also enjoy the lush landscape and beautiful flowers.
