American Falls Observation Tower

American Falls Observation Tower

Welcome to the American Falls Observation Tower, otherwise known as the Prospect Point Observation Tower. This 282-foot tower was first built in 1961 and is known for providing the only panoramic view of all 3 falls.

This architectural wonder extends over the Niagara Gorge, providing dramatic views of the 'wild cascades of Niagara Falls, as well as the raging whitewater below'. The tower is constructed out of aluminum, glass, and steel and is formed into the shape of a Maltese cross.

To visit the tower utilize the elevators and take a ride up to the Observation Tower (the elevator also goes down to Maid of the Mist boat dock). The views from inside are uniquely elevated, providing out-front views of the American Falls. There are high-powered lenses inside for close-up views of the falls on the indoor deck, as well as a snack bar, restrooms, and a gift shop.

Outside you may also catch glimpses of local birds such as Peregrine Falcons, Bald Eagles, and gulls, this area an official Audubon Important Bird Area, or IBA.
