Anheuser Busch Brewery
The largest and oldest Anheuser-Busch Brewery lies proudly in St. Louis’ historic Soulard District along the majestic Mississippi River. Based on the city’s large population of German immigrants, St. Louis thrived as a brewing city. Today, Anheuser-Busch is a wildly popular company that has spread its wings across the country, building six major breweries between both east and west coasts. As the company’s largest brewery, St. Louis’ industrial centerpiece offers tours and attractions that highlight the company’s values and product.
The Complimentary Tour highlights the seven-step brewing process, taking a look at the Brew Kettles and the Beechwood Aging Cellars. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and visits the historic Clydesdale stables that were built in 1885 and hold the famous Budweiser horses.
If you would prefer a more in-depth, behind the scenes tour then the Brewmaster Tour is for you. Take a look at the art of Budweiser brewing from the historic Brew House through the Primary Fermentation Cellar all the way to the Packaging Facility and the Finishing Tanks where guests over 21 are allowed to take a sip straight from the tank. Children are allowed on the tours though they are not allowed to participate in tastings.
Other tours include the Day Fresh Tour which covers the philosophy of “Seed to Sip” brewing as well as the History Tour which includes access to the Schoolhouse Museum in the historic Old Lyon Schoolhouse. The Schoolhouse Museum includes over 400 historical items from the expansive company archives spanning centuries.
