Sand Key provides the best of both worlds when it comes to outdoor Florida recreation: a gorgeous beach and an expansive park. Along the beach, which first opened to the public in 1984, your group can enjoy kayaking, swimming, and wildlife watching, with several endangered sea turtle and sea bird species making this 'rare salt marsh' locale home. See heron, horned owls, and anhinga as you stroll the boardwalk or nature trail. This park actually serves as the base of operations for the county's artificial reef program!
The park provides pet play areas and a fun children's playground. There are beach wheelchairs available for guests here, as well as on-duty lifeguards!
