El Museo Latino

El Museo Latino

As 1 of only 17 Latino museums in the U.S, Omaha's El Museo Latino is a must-stop for local, cultural, and historical education.

This popular museum features Latino and Hispanic art and history, opened in 1916 as the first museum of its kind in the Midwest. El Museo Latino features educational programs such as lectures, presentations, films, art classes, workshops, demonstrations, art history courses, gallery talks, dance lessons, and guided tours. These programs can be customized to focus on K-12, post-secondary education, or adult level education. The k-12 options focus on math, social studies, literature, and language arts with respect to the Latino culture.

Your group will be able to possibly participate in any scheduled events during your visit as well, a couple of the more popular ones including the Cinco De Mayo celebration in May and the Heritage Month celebration in September. If you are lucky, you may even see COMAR, the museum's Ballet Folklorico Mexicano. Talk about a lot of cultures packed into one spot!
