Ritz Theaters is a series of three different theaters within the Philadelphia area, owned by the same mother company, Landmark Theaters. Landmark Theaters is the nation’s largest chain of theaters marketing independent film sales. This major company has entirely unique locations in such major cities as St. Louis, Chicago, D.C., and New York and is owned by power business duo Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban (yeah, the Shark Tank guy). The closest theater to your group will probably be Ritz Five off of Walnut Street, but you can also choose from Ritz East and Ritz at the Bourse for a wider selection of viewing options. Ritz Five was established in 1976, the entire Landmark company founded just two years before that. This quaint old fashioned feel theater holds five screens, the first of its kind if Philly. There are 56 total theaters, 268 total screens within this company!
At Ritz Five you will experience an art-house cinema vibe, the theaters themselves screening independent, foreign, and documentary films. All the theaters offer these choices, plus occasional Hollywood blockbusters or smart films, as well as 3-D and experimental films. Ritz offers digital projection, gourmet concession options, and onsite DVD, book, and CD sales. Enjoy avant-garde films alongside unique personal theater details, such as the eco-select popcorn bags in each theater in honor of Earth Day. Be sure to check if there are any fun events taking place during your visit, such as Friday Midnight Movies, any private screenings, or any film festivals.
